Suge Knight in Another Fight

Suge%20Knight.jpgLegendary Death Row Records CEO Marion “Suge” Knight took a beating early Monday morning in Scottsdale, Arizona, as reported by TMZ.com.  The alleged assailant has ties to Akon.  Apparently, Akon hosted the 944 Magazine All-Star Weekend Wrap-up Celebration at the W Hotel.  According to the website, cops were called to the scene by hotel security, who reported that a fight seemed to be brewing between to groups in the VIP section.

Lil Wayne is on fire!  The cough syrup sipper's latest CD, "Tha Carter III," has sold about 3 million copies last year to become 2008's best-selling album.       

Although, Wayne's only sold 2.88 million copies, it's the first time since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991 that the best-selling album of a calendar year sold less than 3 million copies.

He was arrested yesterday, after police dogs went through his tour bus and sniffed out multiple drugs; including cocaine and ecstasy.

Jay-Z (A.K.A. Shawn Carter) is stepping down as president of Universal Music Group's Def Jam Records effective by the end of the year.  According to Jay-Z, "Now it's time for me to take on new challenges...I am pleased to have had the opportunity to build upon the Def Jam legacy". The 38 year old legendary rapper took over as president of the rap label in 2005 and signed Grammy-nominated R&B singers Rihanna and Ne-Yo.   

 

R. Kelly Misses Court Date & Threatened with Arrest Warrant

R. Kelly missed his court date (for his child pornography case) yesterday in Chicago and was threatened with an arrest warrant due to his tour buses being ordered off the road for eight hours in Utah.  Kelly's four tour busses were pulled over after police clocked them going 100 mph.  When police officers checked the buses' log books they found that the drivers didn't document enough rest time.  The drivers also seemed fatigued. As a result, R. Kelly missed his court date.

 

Breaking News - Pimp C Found Dead

No, it’s not a rumor.  Unfortunately, rapper Pimp C was found dead this morning at the Mondrian Hotel in Hollywood.  A 911 call was placed, the L.A. County fire department responded,  and he was found dead in bed.  He was 33.  No further details are available at this time.  Pimp C, real name Chad Butler was part of the rap group UGK.  He recently appeared on the song “International Player’s Anthem (I ChooseYou) with Outkast.

Kanye West successfully performed "Hey Mama" in his Glow in the Dark tour, this time in London's O2 Arena (See Video).  During a previous concert in Paris Kanye tried to perform "Hey Mama" but broke into tears and couldn't finish the song.  Kanye attended funeral services for his mother Donda West last week in Oklahoma. He has however decided to continue to perform before eager crowds in Europe as part of his Glow in the Dark tour.

Shawntae Harris) who got arrested last Thursday for smashing a bottle over the head of a waitress at Jermaine Dupri's Atlanta-area nightclub.  What is up with that?  The 33 rapper was charged with aggravated assault which happened about 1:20 AM last Thursday.

Deputies from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office raided DMX's (A.K.A. Earl Simmons) Arizona home after receiving a tip that several dogs were being mistreated.  The police found 12 (two pit bulls, the rest mastiffs) tied up and the remains of three dogs buried in the back yard. The raid also turned up a variety of firearms and a half-pound of suspected illegal narcotics, according to reports. DMX was not at home when the raid took place.

Ice Cube has signed a deal with A&E to produce another g*d d$#m stick#4 rot#$n reality series. Well I can't blame them. Reality shows are very cheap to produce and people like them. I thought it was a fad, but it isn't. Reality shows are here to stay. Cube's show will follow former criminals as they attempt to help people in similar circumstances to turn their lives around.
