Wyclef Jean to Announce Candidacy for President of Haiti

August 4, 2010 2:24 PM | Wyclef Jean | Comments (0)

Wyclef Jean will soon announce his candidacy for the President of Haiti.  According to former Deputy, Pierre Eric Jean-Jacques, the rapper/musician will run as part of his coalition in the November 28 election.  Wyclef's representative, Cindy Tanenbaum, declined to confirm the report; however, Wyclef has planned an announcement this Thursday night in Haiti.

Wyclef Jean is extremely popular in Haiti for his music and for his work via his charity Yele Haiti, which has raised millions of dollars after the January 12 earthquake that killed an estimated 300,000 people and destroyed most of the government ministries buildings and many of the homes in the capital.  If elected Wyclef has his work cut out for him.
