July 4, 2010 2:06 PM | Janet Jackson | Comments (0)

Janet Jackson performed on the first night of The 2010 Essence Music Festival in New Orleans, Louisiana Superdome, thrilling the audience, keeping them focused and reminding everyone that two years of waiting for her to come back is really worth it.

In an interview before the performance Jackson said, “It means a great deal for me to be in the company of such wonderful women, women who I have the pleasure of knowing personally. I'm especially honored to be able to play on a stage that also hosts Gladys Knight. She watched me grow up and I remember her being around the Motown family when I was a kid. It's definitely an honor.”

Janet Jackson is already 44 yet she doesn’t look her age with her short-cropped hair and not to mention her alluring figure on the season finale of American Idol.

Jackson will have movie collaboration with actor-director Tyler Perry. She said she’s living the dream. She always wanted to act; she never thought she would be a singer even though her dad wants her to sing. She has no plans to stop performing but fans will be amazed as she engaged herself in writing and developing scripts soon.

A book entitled “True You” will be released this fall. She said it’s about her life as a kid and up to the present. The book reflects about things that can affect a child for the rest of her life.
