The Chris Brown Saga Continues

February 10, 2009 8:03 PM | Chris Brown | R&B | Rihanna | Comments (2)

Grammy Night produced a shocking news story:  Chris Brown was arrested for his involvement in an altercation with an unidentified female victim.  Now sources are saying that victim is fellow R&B singer Rihanna, as many already suspected.  Rihanna and Brown attended Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy bash together.

The incident occurred shortly afterwards.  And both stars cancelled their Grammy performances on Sunday.  A police source stated that the victim suffered contusions on her forehead, a swollen split lip, and a black eye.

As for Rihanna's current condition, she has reportedly been released from the hospital and is cooperating with police in this investigation.  She cancelled her birthday bash and postponed an upcoming concert in Malaysia.  Her grandmother issued a statement to a Barbados newspaper saying, "I don’t want people to worry. Rihanna is fine and she is doing well.”  A friend says she’s in a “safe place.”

The rap community has begun to speak out about the incident.  Kanye West spoke up today on Ryan Seacrest's radio show.  He said "[Rihanna] has the potential to be the greatest artist of all time and, in that sense, I feel like that's my baby sis and I would do any and everything to help her in any situation."  He said he is "devastated" by reports.  West has known Rihanna for years.

T.I. on the other hand spoke with Carson Daly last night on Last Call.  He said of Chris Brown, "I spoke to him today.  He's cool, you know. He's a little concerned about the situation, but he's still the same Chris. I told him, 'This too shall pass,'" the rapper said.
He added "We're celebrities, we're entertainers, but we're still human—all of us. Don't expect us not to make mistakes, because we will."

In the meantime, the NBA issued a statement that Chris Brown will no longer participate in their All-Star Game events in Phoenix this weekend, and Wrigley’s gum stated they will suspend Brown’s commercials until this matter is resolved.
