Tamka Foster Recovering from Liposuction Complications

The Brazilian news website G1 reports that Foster, 38, was rushed to the intensive care unit at Sirio-Libanes Hospital last Friday after a medical emergency occurred during a liposuction procedure. She allegedly suffered cardiac and respiratory arrest while undergoing anesthesia before the surgery. She was reportedly put into a medically-induced coma for 24 hours and is now recovering.
G1 reports that Gabriel Hunt, a neurosurgeon from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Lost Angeles, is handling her case. He left the Sao Paulo hospital Monday without comment.
The officials at the hospital refuse to comment. A spokesperson for Sirio-Libanes reinforced the family’s demand for total privacy. He stated “The hospital is barred from giving any information."
Usher's spokeswoman, Simone Smalls, reports that Tameka "is in stable condition. Her husband is with her at the hospital. The family requests privacy at this difficult time." Smalls confirmed that Foster had been admitted to Sirio-Libanes, which is considered the top hospital in Brazil, adding that she "suffered complications from routine surgery in Brazil."
Usher cancelled concerts in the U.S. and rushed to Brazil to be by his wife's side.
