Alicia keys Tops Billboard Charts with Single & Album

Alicia Keys is on top of the world! Her new album and single has topped Billboard with No. 1 spots on multiple charts. One day after her album "As I Am" entered The Billboard 200 in the top position. The single, "No One," took control of Billboard's Hot 100 chart with a rise from No. 2 last week. The track also sold 210,000 downloads, an 88% increase from last week, and remains No. 1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for a sixth week.

Kanye West Successfully Performes "Hey Mama"

Kanye West successfully performed "Hey Mama" in his Glow in the Dark tour, this time in London's O2 Arena (See Video). During a previous concert in Paris Kanye tried to perform "Hey Mama" but broke into tears and couldn't finish the song. Kanye attended funeral services for his mother Donda West last week in Oklahoma. He has however decided to continue to perform before eager crowds in Europe as part of his Glow in the Dark tour.

According to Nielsen SoundScan Jay-Z's new album titled "American Gangster" has sold 425,000 units in the U.S. last week becoming his 10th No. 1 album on The Billboard 200 chart. The official "American Gangster" soundtrack game in at No. 36 this week with 21,000 units sold. Jay-Z has tied Elvis Presley in second place for the most No. 1 albums on the chart.

Kanye West's mother, Dr. Donda West, has died in Los Angeles. The cause of her death at this time in unknown. Last May, Dr. Donda West published the book "Raising Kanye: Life Lessons from the Mother of a Hip-Hop Star". Kanye and are mom had a very strong bond and were often seen together at parties and award shows.

Judge Rules on Expert Witness in R. Kelly Court Case

Chicago Circuit Court Judge Vincent Gaughan ruled last Friday in the R. Kelly case that prosecutors won't be allowed to have an expert testify that child victims of sexual abuse sometimes deny the abuse ever happened. The doctor was to testify that underage victims of pornography often respond to the trauma by delaying a cry for help.

Another female rapper is in hot water with the law! This time it's Da Brad (A.K.A. Shawntae Harris) who got arrested last Thursday for smashing a bottle over the head of a waitress at Jermaine Dupri's Atlanta-area nightclub. What is up with that? The 33 rapper was charged with aggravated assault which happened about 1:20 AM last Thursday.
