Police Raids DMX Home for Mistreating Dogs

August 27, 2007 12:22 PM | DMX | Rap | Comments (0)

Deputies from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office raided DMX's (A.K.A. Earl Simmons) Arizona home after receiving a tip that several dogs were being mistreated.  The police found 12 (two pit bulls, the rest mastiffs) tied up and the remains of three dogs buried in the back yard. The raid also turned up a variety of firearms and a half-pound of suspected illegal narcotics, according to reports. DMX was not at home when the raid took place.

Neighbors complained that the dogs were tied up without any food or water in the dry Arizona heat and were constantly barking and being mistreated.  However, according to DMX's lawyer DMX haven't been home for at least 2 months and he had hired a caretaker for the dogs while he is overseas on tour.

Deputies seized the 12 pit bulls tied up on the property and took them to an old jail that has been converted into an animal shelter. Police said there is no indication that the dogs were used in illegal fights.   The buried dogs were discovered when authorities dug up the back yard. It appeared as if one was burned, however, the cause of death on the other dogs was unknown because the bodies were decomposing. No arrests have been made, nor charges filed as of press time but I'm sure charges are on their way.
