Bon Jovi Sells 292,000 copies of Lost Highway in 1st Week

Bon Jovi's sold 292,000 copies of "Lost Highway" in the week ended June 24 topping U.S. album charts for the first time since 1988.  The rock duo, White Stripes debut No 2, their personal best with their latest release. This is the groups biggest one week sales since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales data in 1991.

Tell me it ain't so.  50 Cent lip-syncing on stage! What?  That's right!  Didn't he learn from Ashlee Simpson who got caught lip-syncing during filming of a previous Saturday Day Night Live show?  During the BET Awards last Tuesday night, 50 Cent got caught lip-syncing on stage after he screwed up the lyrics to Amusement Park over an instrumental version of the track mistakenly played by his DJ, Whoo Kidd.

Eddie is the daddy!  Recent reports have confirmed that Eddie Murphy is the father of Angel Iris Murphy Brown, daughter to Melania Brown (A.K.A. Scary Spice & Mel B's). Eddie has never publicly acknowledged the baby was his.  Thirty two year old Melania Brown and Eddie were dating.

Rapper 50 Cent (A.K.A. Curtis Jackson) baby mama (A.K.A. Shaniqua Tompkins) wants more that the current $25,000 she gets for child support.   Ms. Tompkins has dragged 50 Cent to court in Long Island last Friday to convince the court that she deserves more.  50 Cent showed up at the court house in an armored SUV with a satellite dish. 

 

What Does a Record Company Do?

If you get signed to a record company, you the artist will go into the studio and record songs for the record company.   The record company makes copies of the master recording and ships it to a distributor.  The distributor is a wholesaler who then sells the CDs to retail outlets like Best Buy, Sam Goody and Tower Records.

Tupac is still alive.  After 10 year of being dead, he still coming out with music and movies.  A documentary, titled "Tupac: Resurrection" is a followup to the 2003 documentary titled ""Tupac: Revelations".  The film as the first is about the continuing controversy surrounding the death of the rap superstar and his legendary status in hip-hop.

Getting recognized by mailing your demo to record labels isn’t impossible, however, 99.9% of the time your material will not get listened to. Even if you have the best song on the planet, it will not be listened to. Record labels want to limit their liability, so they do not listen to unsolicited music. Record labels don’t want to listen to numerous songs and then be held liable if someone claims their material was copied.

The ghetto fabulous Keyshia Cole Reality show,”The Way It Is” will be back for season 2 on BET (Black Entertainment Television).  The first season showed the R&B performer with here ghetto fabulous female friends and her mother in prison.  Keyshia definitely had a hard life on her way to becoming a popular R&B singer. 

 

Timbaland Held By German Police After Bar Brawl

Timbaland (A.K.A. Timothy Mosley) was in German police custody early yesterday morning for getting in a bar brawl with a 29 year old Croatian male who was hospitalized with multiple bruises and injuries to his rib cage as a result. Apparently, Timbaland and the Croatian man get into a heated argument in a bar of the Intercontinental Hotel in Cologne at 11.30 p.m.

 

Rapper Stack Bundles Killed

Up and coming rapper, Stack Bundles (A.K.A. Rayquon Elliot) was shot in the head and neck at approximately 5 a.m. Monday morning in Queens street after a night out with friends. Police is investigating whether the unidentified shooter stole a chain from the 24-year-old rapper.

 

R Kelly's New Album Double Up Debuts at #1

R. Kelly in my humble opion is the best R&B artist on the market.  His latest album "Double Up" debuted at No. 1 on Billboard 200 album chart after selling 385,000 copies in the U.S. during its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan.  R. Kelly has been around for years and is still producing hit records.  All 10 of his studio albums have made it to either No. 1 or No. 2 on the Billboard 200.     

 

Akon Investigated for Throwing a Kid off Stage

Akon is in getting some attention again for his onstage performances. Hey at least it keeps him in the news!  Akon is being investigated by the Fishkill, New York police after footage leaked onto the Internet showing him toss a young male into the crowd during a concert.  It seems it may be a stunt because no one really looked concerned in the video.
