Starbucks Launching Record Label

March 13, 2007 7:20 PM | Interesting Stuff | Comments (0)

For all you artists looking for a record deal, Starbucks is getting into the record business by launching their own record label based on its existing Hear Music brand. Starbucks, the largest coffee retailer in the world, is partnering with Concord Music Group which controls several other labels.

Concord has helped Starbucks sell the Ray Charles duets Grammy-winning "Genius Loves Company". Hear Music label will sign artists and sell records through Starbucks stores and other retailers. Starbuck has been extending it’s brand beyond coffee to music, books and movies. Starbucks has also opened four hybrid Hear Music Coffeehouses, where customers can purchase music from thousands of titles and burn the selections to CDs, and it has a branded page at Apple Inc.'s online iTunes store.
