James Brown Final Show at the Appollo

January 1, 2007 10:20 PM | R&B | Comments (1)

Fans began lining up early Thursday morning at Harlem's famed Apollo Theater to say a final goodbye to soul legend James Brown, who died of congestive heart failure in Atlanta on Dec. 25. Arriving via horse-drawn carriage through New York's Harlem neighborhood, Brown once again graced the very stage where he first performed in 1956 and recorded his 1963 album "Live at the Apollo."

Thousands of fans filed past his open casket for the public viewing of his body before it was to be flown to his hometown of Augusta, Georgia for a private service on Friday. According to Reuters, lines outside of the Apollo grew to three blocks long.
